The site's main purpose was to be visually appealing and informative, to show the role of the Mercers' and its contribution to society today, as benefactors and supporters of a wide range of educational, arts and public organisations. Incorporated by the Royal Charter in 1394, the Mercers’ Company is the premier Livery Company of the City of London.
